In a recent interview with PC World's The Full Nerd Network, featuring Kingston Datacenter SSD Business Manager Cameron Crandall, it was stated that Kingston has no intention of abandoning PC enthusiasts, as "consumers are the foundation" of the company.
While other giants are pivoting away from retail, Kingston is doubling down on gamers and creators. However, the market news isn't as friendly:
📈 The "AI Squeeze" is Real: The global demand for AI is starving the supply of standard RAM and SSDs. Leading manufacturers are shifting production to High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) for AI chips, leaving standard PC parts in short supply.
The Numbers are Shocking:
▶ NAND prices are up 246% since the start of 2025.
▶ 70% of that massive spike happened in just the last 60 days!
▶ Crandall warns this is a "pricing apocalypse" unlike anything he’s seen in 29 years.
💡Crandall predicts that prices will be higher in 30 days, and likely even higher 30 days after that.
Kingston is fighting to keep the FURY and Canvas lines on shelves, but with the AI boom shows no signs of slowing down, the era of cheap storage is officially on pause.
