Some rivalries are bigger than the game.
Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry dives into 100+ years of brotherhood, battle and belief, Springboks vs All Blacks, told through rare archive, cinematic craft and a story that lives deep in the hearts of both nations.
A legacy shaped by history, carried by generations, and felt long after the final whistle.

2025 has been nothing short of epic, thanks to the incredible crew we’ve worked with and the clients who trusted us with their stories.

We kicked off the year in Mexico with on Concacaf’s Epic Battles campaign, where even the dog nearly stole the show.

Our journey with MMV took us across India, Peru, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, and Ethiopia, documenting the realities of P. vivax malaria and the researchers and frontline teams fighting it daily. We then continued into the DRC, capturing the impact of Severe Malaria and the people driving change on the ground.

We switched gears in Uruguay with for OFF!’s vibrant mosquito-repellent campaign, before heading to Ghana with to build their new football season alongside an incredible pan-African crew.

We wrapped with Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry with , shooting across South Africa and New Zealand to bring decades of history to life.

To all our clients and wonderful crew, a massive THANK YOU!

Our crew embarked on an extensive global expedition to document the vital work MMV and the SEMA ReACT teams are doing to fight P.Vivax Malaria. From India to Indonesia, Peru, Vietnam, Ethiopia, and Papua New Guinea, each location revealed the urgent reality of P. vivax malaria - a form of malaria that can hide in the liver, return without warning, and keep communities in ongoing cycles of illness.
Working in constantly shifting environments, handling sensitive stories, and operating in remote regions gave us a deeper respect for everyone involved in this project. It reinforced how committed our clients and crew are, not only to the work, but to the people and communities at the centre of it.

This story begins with tradition and becomes a movement.

Through our long-standing partnership with Panthera, we’ve had the privilege of telling stories that connect conservation and culture. This film, for the Heritage Furs initiative celebrates that connection honouring the artisans of the Shembe community, and the vision of the King of Nazareths, Unyazi lwezulu, who supports this work with pride.

Together, we’re helping preserve what matters most, heritage, wildlife, and identity.

We’re incredibly proud to share that Zuzu has won Bronze at the 2025 Loeries Awards for the Africa and Middle East region!

What began as a daring creative idea has grown into something truly special - a collaboration between Scholars Film, the visionary team at Ogilvy Chicago, and the extraordinary artists at BITT Animation in Buenos Aires.

Directed by Colwyn Thomas, Zuzu took us from Cape Town to Chicago, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires; a global production brought to life through imagination, craft, and a touch of madness.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible client SC Johnson & Ogilvy Chicago, whose trust and creative ambition made this possible. Congratulations to every artist, animator and filmmaker who poured heart and soul into this film.

The New Football Season is here!
We recently produced a TV commercial for Supersport, commissioned by T+W, to welcome their new football season! Here’s some grabs from the project - just a little teaser before we share the full 30s and 90s spots later this week.
This one was a fun challenge: filming in both Ghana and Durban, and transforming Durban’s streets into a “Pan-Africa” backdrop. That meant scouting unique locations, working with an incredible cast of foreign nationals, and finding ways to make Durban city look like it could be anywhere on the continent.
Keep an eye out for the ad on Supersport and keep your eye on our page for the full versions dropping soon.

Zuzu launched at the 2025 Oscars on the Red Carpet, bringing to fruition a year long collaboration between Scholars Film, the daring creative minds at Ogilvy Chicago and the astonishing talents and vision of BITT animation in Buenos Aires.

Directed by Scholars’ Colwyn Thomas, Zuzu was filmed between Cape Town, Chicago, Rio De Janeiro and Buenos Aires. The toughest challenge on this project was filming with an imaginary lead character, followed closely by the dark art of getting pigeons to voluntarily look down into a lense.

For this campaign with OFF! and our partners at SC Johnson, we set out to capture the feeling of long summer days, where time slows down and the world feels a little more carefree.

Our biggest challenge was filming a macro mosquito shot in which the insect not only stays still for us, but takes off at the right moment as someone walks past. Fortunately Laguna del Sauce in Uruguay has, come sunset, swarms of mosquitos, which we caught using techniques learnt in the field in Kenya, making films about malaria research.

Scholars created this commercial to showcase the grit of the best football clubs in North and Central America battling it out in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. Filmed for the dynamic London based agency Wild Pigs, it’s a piece that brings out the best of us. For Scholars the finest films leave space, amidst the structure and planning, to stumble onto magic. In this case we refer to heading out with a camera (both film and the stills camera of the irrepressible Roger Jardine) into Mexico and not knowing quite what we’d find. But nonetheless finding an angry dog dressed in his team’s jersey or, in a tiny town under a mountain, a tough as nails little girl going toe to toe with the boys. Mexico lends itself to the magical.

Both Wild Pigs and CONCACAF had the creative courage to explore a side of football that is rarely celebrated: the beauty of the battle. A huge part of this project was scouring through thousands of images from dozens of incredible photographers across the Americas to show that grit and tenacity. Their being at the right place at the right time is what brings this piece to life.

It’s been another career milestone for our directors Greg and Colwyn to be part of directing season 2 of Chasing The Sun.

Produced by T+W, this documentary series is deeply valued by our team after the success of season 1, both in the industry but more so by the impact it had on the lives of the South African people. It continues to fulfill all the creative and technical aspects that we aspire to when it comes to filmmaking - incredible stories, character-building narratives, drama, action, and most importantly, moving and surprising audiences.

A huge thank you to the T+W team for including us in this production. We couldn't be prouder of the work and it's value in the historical landscape of South Africa.
