Zuzu launched at the 2025 Oscars on the Red Carpet, bringing to fruition a year long collaboration between Scholars Film, the daring creative minds at Ogilvy Chicago and the astonishing talents and vision of BITT animation in Buenos Aires.

Directed by Scholars’ Colwyn Thomas, Zuzu was filmed between Cape Town, Chicago, Rio De Janeiro and Buenos Aires. The toughest challenge on this project was filming with an imaginary lead character, followed closely by the dark art of getting pigeons to voluntarily look down into a lense.

For this campaign with OFF! and our partners at SC Johnson, we set out to capture the feeling of long summer days, where time slows down and the world feels a little more carefree.

Our biggest challenge was filming a macro mosquito shot in which the insect not only stays still for us, but takes off at the right moment as someone walks past. Fortunately Laguna del Sauce in Uruguay has, come sunset, swarms of mosquitos, which we caught using techniques learnt in the field in Kenya, making films about malaria research.

Scholars created this commercial to showcase the grit of the best football clubs in North and Central America battling it out in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. Filmed for the dynamic London based agency Wild Pigs, it’s a piece that brings out the best of us. For Scholars the finest films leave space, amidst the structure and planning, to stumble onto magic. In this case we refer to heading out with a camera (both film and the stills camera of the irrepressible Roger Jardine) into Mexico and not knowing quite what we’d find. But nonetheless finding an angry dog dressed in his team’s jersey or, in a tiny town under a mountain, a tough as nails little girl going toe to toe with the boys. Mexico lends itself to the magical.

Both Wild Pigs and CONCACAF had the creative courage to explore a side of football that is rarely celebrated: the beauty of the battle. A huge part of this project was scouring through thousands of images from dozens of incredible photographers across the Americas to show that grit and tenacity. Their being at the right place at the right time is what brings this piece to life.

It’s been another career milestone for our directors Greg and Colwyn to be part of directing season 2 of Chasing The Sun.

Produced by T+W, this documentary series is deeply valued by our team after the success of season 1, both in the industry but more so by the impact it had on the lives of the South African people. It continues to fulfill all the creative and technical aspects that we aspire to when it comes to filmmaking - incredible stories, character-building narratives, drama, action, and most importantly, moving and surprising audiences.

A huge thank you to the T+W team for including us in this production. We couldn't be prouder of the work and it's value in the historical landscape of South Africa.

“Closer to Care” is the latest film in our ongoing work with Ogilvy, highlighting the incredible efforts of SC Johnson in the ongoing fight against malaria in parts of Africa.

Finding ourselves in some of the most isolated regions of Rwanda, the film shares on-the-ground initiatives that SC Johnson, in partnership with the Society for Family Health Rwanda and the Rwanda Ministry of Health are implementing to change the community’s healthcare system.

With numerous health posts being built throughout Rwanda, these initiatives allow for more accessibility for the community to healthcare, bringing the average person’s walk-time to receive healthcare from 3 hours to just 30 minutes.

It’s not often that we get to:
A) travel all the way to the US,
B) with none other than superstar Sho Madjozi,
C) to create an ad with some of the world’s biggest wrestling talent!

T+W entrusted us with the job of directing a TV commercial for Supersport's WWE campaign, featuring a few celebrity wrestlers. With Sho Madjozi ultimately stealing the spotlight, we could really bring together the worlds of SA music and WWE sport with full throttle, high-energy visuals.

Filmed on a meticulously designed set reflecting a South African home, who would have guessed that this dynamic production unfolded in the vibrant city of Orlando, Florida?
