SKENJANE HIGH UNDER FIRE OVER SEXUAL ABUSE ALLEGATIONS

DUTYWA– Shocking allegations have surfaced on social media this week involving alleged misconduct by teachers at Skenjana Senior Secondary School in Dutywa. The claims, which suggest sexual abuse of learners by staff members have sparked widespread outrage among parents and the broader community.

In response, the Eastern Cape Department of Education(EC DoE) has stepped in to address the matter urgently.

EC DoE spokesperson Malibongwe Mtima emphasized that, “We have introduced a team to lead the investigation. We also deployed psychosocial support for learners. All learners received debriefing and counselling,” said Mtima.

“The sign was informed and other stakeholders of the intention. The school is back to functioning. A preliminary investigation is underway at the same time," Mtima added.

In addition while the investigation continues, the department has assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to safeguard learners and uncover the truth behind the allegations. Community leaders and education stakeholders have called for transparency and swift action to ensure justice and restore trust in the school system.
