DOUBLE DOCKING MILESTONE MARKS NEW ERA FOR AUTOMOTIVE LOGISTICS
EAST LONDON- In a major breakthrough for the region's automotive logistics industry, the East London Multi-Purpose Terminal(ELMPT) has successfully handled its first-ever transhipment operation.
On 17th July 2025 the terminal welcomed two car carriers, Hoegh Jeddah and Hoegh London which docked simultaneously to transfer 2,405 fully built units(FBU). This historic event marks a significant milestone for ELMPT, demonstrating its upgraded capabilities and potential for growth.
Furthermore terminal's N berth, recently upgraded to a depth of 10.7 meters, enabled the double-docking operation allowing for more efficient and productive cargo handling.
In addition this development positions ELMPT as a key player in the automotive logistics sector, with a focus on innovation, growth and global relevance.
According to TNPA, "The successful transhipment operation is a testament to the terminal's commitment to enhancing its capabilities and providing world-class services to its clients. As the automotive industry continues to evolve, ELMPT is poised to play a vital role in supporting the region's economic growth and development."
