The 5th Wave Cypher is still uncontested as the record breakers of Phondo Wave Cyphers.
Is there perhaps a lesson for all of us in their story, in how they managed this and how we as an Arts Movement could possibly grow together?
Here are things that we can tell you from our experience with the Group.
- The Artists chose to be and move as a Team from the Get-Go.
- There were no egos and main character syndrome issues.
- Everyone clapped for everyone. Even during the competitive poll stages, the WhatsApp Group was full of jokes about so and so osiphefumlisa ngoo pipe.
- Most of the Artists knew each other's verses Bar for Bar.
- Artists were not only concerned about liking and sharing posts that were about them, but understood that pushing each other, meant pushing THEIR Cypher.
- Artists started collaborations and supported each other's events outside of Phondo Wave Cyphers.
- The same Artists started collaborations with Artists from other Cyphers.
- Their Music Video reached 1000 Views in 1 Day.
- During their month, the PWC page had over 500K Views, which is huge for a Page with 2.5K Followers, even less at the time.
