Why did the university study the levels of ARVs in waste water in the 1st place? Is it a thing?

We shall await the report but it seems for now they are saying that there’s no ARVs in drinking wate. However there’s a risk that people can be exposed to these trace levels of medicine if they maybe eat say a fish 🐟 that was exposed to that environment.

What almost every patient gets wrong is that medicine is the SECOND most important thing.

The price of the medicine, accessibility (where it will be sold & whether it will need a script).
The dosage form (tablet, capsule, cream, other)
Side effect profile…and, and, and
All these things are secondary.

What’s the 1st thing then?
The diagnosis is the 1st thing. The WHY.
It is the reason to use said medication.

You can buy medication for R3000 but if you’re using the wrong medication then it DOES NOT matter. Get it?

It could be the safest. It might be herbal, it might taste great, etc, etc, etc. All that doesn’t matter if you’re using the wrong treatment or if you’re using the correct treatment in the wrong way.

If you can use a “new” pharmacy then you can use a “new” doctor. What’s the difference? 🧐

The Medicines Control Council (MCC) now called SAHPRA, classifies medicines by scheduling status.

Schedule 1 [S1], S2, S3, S4, S5, S6 and S7.
Medicines ARE NOT classified by dosage form.

You get OTC nasal sprays & prescribed ones.
You get OTC syrups & you get prescribed ones.
You get OTC pills 💊 & you get prescribed ones.
You get OTC injections 💉 , vaccinations and immunisations & you also get prescribed ones.
You get OTC ointments/ cream…you get the picture.

The dosage form (the type of medicine) has nothing to do with whether it’s available on prescription or OTC.

Please get a pregnancy 🤰🏼test before using Duromine/ Mounjaro/ Ozempic/ other. This will help to exclude pregnancy as the reason for the weight gain.

Today, 2 years ago, we started trading at Lwanda’s Pharmacy in Amalinda, East London.

That’s my mom reading the newspaper 📰 article that came out on 23 June 2023. I’m sure she was very proud. I on the other hand, I was anxious and scared. I was afraid and rightfully so because I wasn’t ready for what happened next.

I am writing this post but even I can’t believe it.
It is all just surreal. That I’ve survived 2 whole years without that nice salary I used to have 😂
