Reflections on Matthew 5:43–48 📖
In this scripture, Jesus challenges us to love others using God’s high standard, not the world's standard. Here are four simple lessons we can learn:
1️⃣ Love the people who hurt you.
The world tells us to love our friends and hate our enemies. But Jesus tells us to do the opposite. He wants us to pray for our enemies and genuinely wish the best for those who treat us badly.
2️⃣ Act like your Heavenly Father.
When we love our enemies, we show that we are truly God’s children. God is good to everyone. He lets the sun shine and the rain fall on both good people and bad people. We must show the same kind of fairness.
3️⃣ Do more than ordinary people do.
It is easy to love people who love us back. Even people who do not know God can do that. Our love must go a step further if we want to please God and receive His reward.
4️⃣ Keep growing every day.
Jesus tells us to be perfect just as our Father in heaven is perfect. This means we should keep growing in our faith and character, making sure we live like God every single day.
Let us be intentional today about showing love to everyone, even to those who are difficult to love.
