DJ PROFILE: MANDLA MAGWAZA
Mandla Magwaza affectionately known as "Njinji Wam" to his listeners hails from a small town of Jozini in the northern KwaZulu Natal.
Magzwaza fell in love with radio at a young age and he than joined Maputaland Community Radio as a gossip and entertainment contributor. After completing his matric in 2003 he enrolled for a Radio Production course. In the year 2005 he professionally kick started his radio career with Durban Youth Radio where he did weekend shows. Through his hard work and excellence he managed to clinched a coveted afternoon drive show. In 2007 Mandla Magwaza worked as a freelance Technical producer at the SABC RBF Department and in 2008 he joined the SABC Radio Sales as a sound engineer. His hard work finally paid off when he joined Ukhozi FM which is South Africa's biggest radio station home to 7.3 million listeners as a Technical producer on "Vuka Mzansi" a breakfast show which was hosted by the legendary Linda Sibiya.
Njinji Wam hosted his own shows within the station including Ukhozi FM Top 20 and Ukhozi FM Party Time.
The baritone Magwaza also served as a station voice over artist. Mandla has also worked alongside Dudu "Lady D" Khoza as her Technical producer.
On January 7th Mandla abruptly left Ukhozi FM and left many of his fans confused. On 24 January 2026 Mandla Magwaza sadly passed away in hospital after a short illness.
