A REIGN OF GRACE, GRIT, AND PURPOSE — THE JOURNEY OF MISS GERT SIBANDE EXCLUSIVE 2023, MINENHLE NKOSI
In the vibrant world of beauty, purpose, and empowerment, Minenhle Nkosi’s name stands tall — not just as the reigning Miss Gert Sibande Exclusive 2023, but as a beacon of inspiration to young girls across the region. As her reign gracefully comes to an end, VitalHer Magazine sat down with Minenhle for a heartfelt conversation about her journey, challenges, impact, and the legacy she hopes to leave behind.
THE CROWNED BEGINNING
“My journey to winning Miss Gert Sibande was amazing!” she beams. “I worked hard, practiced my walk and talk, and believed in myself.” Backed by unwavering support from family and friends, Minenhle embraced the pageant with enthusiasm and preparation — practicing her stage presence, learning about current affairs, and nurturing both her physical and mental well-being.
For Minenhle, pageantry was more than a dream — it was a calling. “I’ve always loved beauty pageants and wanted to be a role model for young girls,” she shares. This vision became her driving force throughout the competition.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Among the many highlights of her journey, Minenhle recalls two that stand out. “Meeting the other contestants and learning from them was so memorable,” she says. “But nothing compares to the moment I heard my name announced as the winner — I felt overwhelmed with joy and gratitude. It was truly a dream come true.”
But it wasn’t all glitter and glory. Like many queens before her, she encountered moments of self-doubt and pressure. “I overcame them by focusing on my strengths, staying positive, and remembering why I started,” she says with quiet strength.
MORE THAN A TITLE
Minenhle’s reign was deeply rooted in service and impact. From visiting schools and supporting local charities to championing education and empowerment for girls, she took her role seriously. “The most rewarding part has been meeting and inspiring young girls and making a difference in my community,” she says.
Being Miss Gert Sibande Exclusive gave her a larger platform. “I’ve been able to amplify my voice and make a bigger impact,” she explains. “I want young girls to know that they are powerful, capable, and deserving of love and respect. I hope I’ve inspired them to be confident, kind, and courageous.”
SKILLS FOR A LIFETIME
Throughout her reign, Minenhle honed invaluable life skills; public speaking, leadership, time management, and media relations, to name a few. “I’ve also developed self-confidence and self-awareness,” she adds. “From event hosting and speechwriting to networking, this journey has shaped me in ways I’ll carry forever.”
She’s quick to acknowledge those who stood by her: “My biggest support system has to be my parents,” she says with gratitude. “Their love and encouragement have meant everything.”
LOOKING AHEAD
Before she passes on the crown, Minenhle hopes to launch a community project focused on education and empowerment for young girls; a mission that aligns perfectly with her values. “I also want to continue inspiring and mentoring young women,” she says.
And after the crown? “I plan to continue my advocacy work through public speaking, writing, and community outreach,” she explains. “I’ll never stop supporting young women.”
In five years, Minenhle sees herself completing her studies, building a successful career, and continuing to create change. “I’d like to be remembered for inspiring young girls to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams,” she concludes.
A QUEEN’S ADVICE
To young girls dreaming of pageantry or leadership, Minenhle offers these words of wisdom:
“Believe in yourself, work hard, and stay true to your values. Beauty pageants are not just about physical beauty, they’re about inner beauty, intelligence, and character.”
With poise, purpose, and a powerful message, Minenhle Nkosi has proven that true queens wear more than crowns — they wear courage, compassion, and conviction. As she prepares to hand over her title, one thing is certain: her reign may end, but her legacy is just beginning.
