The purpose of the role



The Specialist: Marketing and Communications reports directly to the Senior Manager: Marketing and Communications. The Specialist: Marketing and Communications is responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring BANKSETA’s marketing and communications strategy to increase brand awareness and improve marketing efforts. The incumbent in this role is responsible for adverting all the all BANKSETA programmes (Window Periods Publications) to the media on time and to budget.



Main Responsibilities



To ensure the achievement of work plans



Develop policies, processes and standard operating procedures relating to own area of specialization.
Provide specialist input in the development of Operational Plans and Organisational Strategy.
Execute work plans and drive the evidence collection in real time.
Produce reports against the implementation of work plans.
Respond to audit findings with complete evidence, on time.
Implement documented data management practices.
Comply to policies and procedures in the unit.

To create graphics of support to the Marketing team and also ensure branding initiatives



Implement the BANKSETA’s Advertising plan.
Design layouts for print publications.
Design layout of art or product exhibits, displays or public awareness materials.
Liaise with BANKSETA staff to determine advertising needs.
Collaborate with BANKSETA Division members to develop or refine designs.
Create computer-generated graphics or animation.
Determine the size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy and select style and size of type.
Liaise with stakeholders to discuss and determine layout design.
Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts, based on knowledge of layout principles and aesthetic design concepts.
Develop graphics and layouts for illustrations, company logos and BANKSETA website.
Conduct research that is market-related in order to identify customers’ trends, competitor offerings, and demographic data.
Create branding ideas, graphic designs, promotional materials, and advertising copies.
Discover effective marketing and promotional channels that include media platforms to be used to relay product messages to customers.
Investigate the performance of BANKSETA’s marketing campaigns and strategies by evaluating key performance metrics.
Create and maintain innovative marketing campaigns for BANKSETA depending on the robust data and present recommendations to management.
Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing clients through networking and prospecting.


To control and manage public relations, media requests and/or advertising efforts

Develop effective communication strategies in BANKSETA.
Manage and control BANKSETA’s internal communications such as memos and newsletters.
Responsible for drafting content for the mass media or company website; this can include press releases.
Organising initiatives and planning events or press conferences for BANKSETA.
Liaise with media and handle requests for interviews and statements.
Create and maintain good relationships with advocates and key persons to help BANKSETA’s reputation.
Collaborate with marketing professionals to produce a copy of advertisements or articles.
Facilitate resolutions of disputes with the public or other external vendors.

To deliver, monitor and improve Customer service:
Deliver optimal customer service to internal and external customers that adds value to the business and generates a low rate of complaints from customers.
Deal with customer complaints quickly and effectively.
Ensure regular communication with customers.
Share customer feedback with team members to ensure customer service is improved.

To ensure the optimisation of the Section:
Keep up to date with new developments and changes in own field and within BANKSETA.
Share new information and best practice trends with colleagues.
Proactively introduce improvement opportunities in line with best practice to optimise organisational success.
Partner with management to optimise productivity and team work effectiveness.
Maintain ownership for own work, performance management and development.
Maintain open and honest communication.
Engage in problem solving and continuous improvement processes to optimise output of the area.
Demonstrate visible ownership of business wide initiatives impacting on area of accountability.

Minimum Requirements:
5 years’ experience in similar environment
A Bachelor’s Degree, Advanced Diploma in Marketing and Communications or equivalent

Additional Criteria:
High levels of stressful working conditions and working long hours.
May be required to travel.
Driver’s License and own vehicle
