CASE AGAINST A WOMAN WHO POURED MMAPEU HLANGA WITH ACID OVER A BOYFRIEND POSTPONED

MOKOPANE : The trial of Yvonne Maja, accused of attacking Mmapeu Hlanga with acid and assaulting her now ex-boyfriend, Kgotlelelo Phasha, continued on Monday at the Mokopane Regional Court.

During the proceedings, the focus was on the video footage from the day of the incident. The court heard explanations confirming that the video evidence presented was not tampered with.

This footage is expected to play a crucial role in the pursuit of justice for Mmapeu Hlanga, who continues to bravely face her attacker following the brutal assault that took place in Mogoto Village on 13 October 2024.

The case has been postponed to 1 December 2025, when Mmapeu Hlanga is expected to take the stand again to explain the content of the video.

ZIMBABWEAN MAN ( 42 ) SENTENCED TO LIFE IN JAIL FOR RA**NG AND IMPREGNATING A 12 - YEAR OLD GIRL

TZANEEN : The Tzaneen Regional Court has convicted and sentenced a 42-year-old Zimbabwean national to life imprisonment for the r**e of a 12-year-old minor girl.

The name of the accused is concealed to protect the identity of the victim and to avoid secondary victimisation of the child.

The accused pleaded not guilty, and the state led evidence of witnesses who testified that the accused and the victim were staying at the same compound of the ZZ2 farm in Mooketsi.

Between 2020 and 2021, the accused would request the victim to his compound, and he would spike her drink, which resulted in her losing control of herself.

He then overpowered her and r**ed her. While in another incident, he did not spike her drink; however, he forced himself on her while they were watching television at the accused’s place.

After the victim had realised that she was pregnant, she reported the matter to her sister, who opened a case against the accused, and he was arrested thereafter.

MARCH IN PROTEST AGAINST WATER CRISIS IN KOKOSI AND FOCHVILLE UNDERWAY

The march by residents of Kokosi and Fochville to Rand Water is currently well underway. The Greater Fochville Water Crisis Committee has fully complied with all legal requirements for the march scheduled for Friday, 14th November 2025.

Transport arrangements have been made to ferry community members to the Rand Water offices, ensuring safe and organized participation. The community will assemble in Kokosi at 7:00 AM, and proceed to the Rand Water offices, where the Memorandum of Grievances will be handed over at 10:00 AM.

This march is more than just a protest it is a cry for justice from communities that have suffered in silence for far too long. The people of Kokosi and Fochville have endured the harsh reality of daily water shortages, putting the health, dignity, and well-being of families at risk. This journey is not easy, and it will not be without its challenges, but it is a step we must take. Together, as a united front, we will not back down until our voices are heard, and the water crisis is addressed with the urgency it deserves.

We know the road ahead may be difficult, but we are determined. This march is a testament to the strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment of our communities. We will push forward, no matter the obstacles, because our fight for clean, reliable water is a fight for our very survival.

We appreciate the community’s solidarity, discipline, and peaceful approach in highlighting the water crisis affecting Kokosi and Fochville.
