MOKOPANE: TRIAL OF A WOMAN POURED BY ACID OVER A MAN RETURNS TO COURT

The trial of Yvonne Maja, accused of attacking Mmapeu Hlanga with acid and assaulting her boyfriend, Kgotlelelo Phasha, have resumed earlier today at the Mokopane Regional Court.

During the opening of the trial on 11 September 2025, Mmapeu, her boyfriend, and the doctor who treated her during her seven-month hospitalisation all took the stand.

The investigating officer in the matter was the first to testify when proceedings continue this morning.

Maja, who is currently out on R3 000 bail, faces charges of attempted murder and assault stemming from the brutal acid attack that took place at Mogoto Village on 13 October 2024.
