What do you do when an 8-litre Bentley or Grand Prix Bugatti isn’t enough? If you are Clive and Bruce Woolley, you build a 27-litre tank-engined Monster in the spirit of an early 1900s land speed or Brooklands racer and call it ‘Lucy’.

That’s correct: 27-litre or 1647 cubic inches. If that number doesn’t jump at you, then try 12 cylinders, 24 spark plugs, 1850kg and whopping 1550Nm of torque. Top speed with current ratios is 160km/h and it’ll get there in a flash of exhaust flames and smoking rubber.

Did you know 294 1300cc Gordinis were assembled and sold in South Africa? And the performance saloon etched itself in local motorsport history during the 1969 Kyalami 9-Hour when the Scamp Porter/Geoff Mortimer passed a Porsche 917 down the main straight and clinched the first saloon car home and 4th overall honours. Yip it was influenced by a Highveld thunderstorm...but hey, it's in the records now.

We're heading with Zig-Zag Life to the Concours d’Elegance Durban’ in Umhlanga on 7 September and to celebrate the arrival of spring will be taking the scenic route down from Johannesburg. It'll be a fresh start on the 5th of September, with an overnight stop in Winterton, before we cruise in to Umhlanga to take it easy. Sunday we'll enjoy the concours before heading home on Monday the 8th. Knysna Motor Show goes Cars@Coffee on 27 April 2025, a prelude to Simola Hill Climb at Knysna Speed Week.
The event will be held on Thesen Island, surrounded by the Knysna Estuary, an ideal heritage backdrop. Vehicles from previous events ranged from 100-year-old Ford Model T to the very latest Aston Martin Vanquish and the bikes weren’t left out with everything from classic Vespas to the latest Ducatis joining in the fun.

Good solid original car with service history.
120 000 miles.
Left hand drive - originally sold in the USA.
G50 Gearbox.
Well maintained with service history, spare keys and books.
All electrics working - including aircon and roof.
Original paint.
Re-upholstered interior.
Dash has some small cracks but matching leather to recover supplied.

Drives extremely well and looks the part in its 'Cassisrot Metallic' paint with burgundy leather.

Papers are in order and reflect Used/Gebruik status.
