Slipped beneath the surface and into another world…

A perfect day diving A-Frame in Simon’s Town, with rare crystal-clear visibility that turned the kelp forest into a living cathedral of light and life. Towering stalks of kelp swayed above schools of fish weaving between the shadows, while we drifted in awe through this magical underwater realm.

These moments remind me why I keep coming back — same site, but never the same dive.

Our recent dives have been a stunning mix of macro magic and wide-angle wonder—spotting intricate nudibranchs, shy octopuses, and schools of fish dancing in the blue. Whether you’re a fan of the small details or the grand scenes, there’s always something incredible waiting beneath the surface.

A little ghost in Gordon’s Bay. 👻
I was carefully scanning the sea fans, hoping to spot one of our common Longsnout pipefish. They love to perch in the vibrant branches, making for stunning photos. But then, something at the base of the sea fan caught my eye—a piece of kelp that looked far too much like a Ghost pipefish.

I hesitated. Could it really be? My mind had to be playing tricks on me. I moved in closer, heart pounding, and there it was—a real Ghost pipefish! 🤯

A rare and extraordinary find in False Bay! As it drifted up into the sea fan, I quickly snapped some shots, knowing this was a moment I wouldn’t soon forget.

Well hellooo Aphelodoris brunnea, the variable dorid is a species endemic to South Africa. The brown patterns on their bodies vary greatly between individuals.
👀🙃
There were a family of 5 of them together. They are easier to spot since they are larger nudibranchs that can grow up to 5cm.
