Elmarie Laubscher had the privilege of attending this phenominal show.
James and Monique once again proved why audiences keep coming back for more. From the very first song, they had the crowd on their feet, singing along and reliving some of the greatest hits of the 70s and 80s.
The evening featured an extraordinary compilation of music, so impressive that leaving out a single song would not do the performance justice. James effortlessly brought the legends of Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison back to life with powerful renditions of Burning Love and Always on My Mind. Monique delivered the ladies' classics with her trademark passion and even took on Cliff Richard's We Don't Talk Anymore, much to the delight of the audience.
The setlist was packed with favourites, including Paul Young's Love Is in the Air, Creedence Clearwater Revival's Who'll Stop the Rain, Smokie's Living Next Door to Alice and Needles and Pins, and The Doobie Brothers' Listen to the Music. The audience enthusiastically joined in on Bachman-Turner Overdrive's You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet and Stealers Wheel's Stuck in the Middle with You.
Country fans were treated to George Strait's Amarillo by Morning, while ABBA's Mamma Mia brought everyone back to the disco era. The energy continued with Grease Lightning from John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, Freddie Mercury's Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Billy Joel's You May Be Right, and the Traveling Wilburys' Handle With Care.
Rock anthems such as Queen's I Want to Break Free, Bryan Adams' Summer of '69, and Bruce Springsteen's Dancing in the Dark had the crowd singing at the top of their lungs. Romantic favourites including Chris de Burgh's Lady in Red, Tom Jones' Kiss, and Cher's If I Could Turn Back Time showcased the versatility of both performers.
The nostalgia continued with Tina Turner's Simply the Best, Shakin' Stevens' Oh Julie, Wham!'s Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, Dire Straits' Walk of Life (Here Comes Johnny), and Depeche Mode's Just Can't Get Enough.
What truly sets James and Monique apart is not only their musical talent but also their humour and wonderful rapport with the audience. They create an atmosphere that feels less like a concert and more like an evening shared with old friends. Their ability to connect with people, combined with outstanding musicianship and a carefully selected soundtrack of timeless classics, makes every performance an experience rather than simply a show.
If the enthusiastic audience response was anything to go by, James and Monique remain one of the most entertaining musical duos around, delivering an evening filled with nostalgia, laughter, and unforgettable music.
