Since 1996 Highway Africa has been at the centre of Africa’s debates on journalism & new media.

The annual Highway Africa Conference is the world’s largest gathering of African journos. The Highway Africa Conference is a project of Rhodes University (Makhanda, South Africa). The 24-year old event is supported by a variety of partners including Government, corporate South Africa and development agencies. The key focus is the impact of digital technologies (internet and mobile) on journalism and the media and, by extension, society.
