𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐬 – 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝-𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞-𝐎𝐟𝐟?

Can we really balance environmental damage by “offsetting” it elsewhere? This thought-provoking article examines the growing debate around environmental offset schemes — programs designed to compensate for carbon emissions and habitat loss through restoration or conservation efforts.

While supporters see offsets as a practical tool for sustainability, critics warn they can become a moral loophole that delays real change. Environmental Offset Schemes – Solution or Second-Place Trade-Off? invites readers to look deeper at how these systems work, who benefits, and what true environmental accountability should mean in today’s world.

𝐑𝐚𝐚𝐫 𝐯𝐨𝐞𝐥 𝐧𝐚 𝟑𝟒 𝐣𝐚𝐚𝐫 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐞𝐧

The Post - Garden Route

We produce and publish a 20 page regional community newspaper, covering George, Mossel Bay and Great Brak River. Our pages are filled with positive, interesting and current stories, events and information. This free publication reaches 5000 dedicated readers from Mossel Bay to George, on a monthly basis, for 11 months of the year, as we combine December and January to give us a year end holiday.

A bit of history: the first issue of the “Groot Brak Post” was produced in March 2006. It was a 12-page newspaper in black & white (B&W). With the 3rd birthday in March 2009, the name changed to “Great Brak Post” and spot-colour was introduced. In March 2015 full colour for the cover and back pages was introduced. In April 2016 a new team took over and in May we started with the teaser banner under the name. The name was updated to THE POST with our October 2018 edition to give us a broader footprint. Currently we are at 20 pages in both full colour and B&W.

You are welcome to find your copy around the 1st of each month at any one of 65 outlets. Please visit our website www.thepost.org.za, register and add your company to the free Business Directory listing, add a free Classified advertisement or an upcoming event.
