Winter isn’t on the way – it’s already here 🥶

CAKE STORY TIME (long but worth it)

So, I purposely held back on sharing photos of this cake until today and here’s why:

About two months ago, I received a message from one of my closest friends. Naturally, I thought it was a catch-up conversation. But to my surprise, it was actually her daughter who had taken over the phone and she had a very important mission, I was chosen to bake her birthday cake this year!

From the get go, this little one knew exactly what she wanted no negotiations. The first brief? A Thelma the Unicorn cake, with very specific instructions. Her parents sweetly surrendered, saying, “We’ll just pay for the cake, we clearly have no say here!” 🤣

I received updates regularly voice notes, videos, detailed descriptions this girl was on a roll. But just when I thought I had it all down, another message came in, She changed her mind!

The new brief? A Narwhal cake. Not just any cake though it needed to be a rainbow sponge, bubblegum flavoured, with an under the sea theme, and narwhals front and centre.

She even sent me TWO different cake inspirations and I was tasked with merging them into one perfect masterpiece. And I must say, I understood the assignment.

While I usually live for the reactions at delivery (Saturday was her party and yes, they were priceless), my favourite part of this journey was something deeper witnessing a then 3-year-old articulate her vision with such clarity, confidence, and joy. Boss girl energy in full effect and I loved every second of it.

Happy 4th Birthday, Eliyanah Grace. God’s richest blessings upon your life. I pray you’ll always remain confident in who you are, hold onto your independence, and grow boldly into the world-changer you're meant to be.

To her amazing parents thank you for nurturing her creativity and raising such a phenomenal young girl. You’re doing an incredible job.

Cape Town has officially entered its “cold, wet, and moody” phase. Winter is here, and it’s making a bold entrance!

Umbrellas are out, soup is simmering, and hot water bottles have become our best friends.

But since it’s the weekend, let’s warm things up with a little cake humor to bring a smile (or even a chuckle) to your face:
