Seventeen-year-old soprano Yongama Takane from Khayelitsha, a member of theCape Town Opera Foundation Studio, has won first prize in the Solo Soprano Category at the ABC Motsepe South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod.

The National Arts Festival Makhanda comes to a close today after last night's Ovation Awards recognised the top talent that emerged from the Fringe this year.

The Ovations are a longstanding award that recognises qualifying Fringe productions that have moved audiences, echoed in conversations, showed skill and technical prowess, shone in reviews and reflected on its context.

Cool elegance and polished ex*****on are hallmarks of Cape Town City Ballet's soloist Hannah Ward, ready for her début in the dual role of Odette/Odile in this month's production of SWAN LAKE at the Joburg Theatre and Cape Town International Centre (CTICC).

SWAN LAKE is a co-production between South Africa’s two leading ballet companies, Cape Town City Ballet and Joburg Ballet, with the orchestra under the baton of Brandon Philips.

Hannah Ward as Odette/Odile and Jerome Barnes as Prince Siegfried will be performing at the Joburg Theatre on Sunday 6 July 2025 at 2pm and Saturday 12 July 2025 at 7pm. At CTICC her performance is on Saturday 26 July 2025 at 7pm. Tickets via Webtickets.

South African artists Mthuthuzeli November and Joshua Williams have been recognised at the prestigious Benois de la Danse Awards for November’s work Chapter 2, which was performed as part of Cape Ballet Africa’s inaugural triple bill, SALT.

This winter, comedian Nik Rabinowitz hobbles triumphantly back to Die Boer Theatre in Durbanville to bring you the work in progress version of his new stand-up special GERIATRIC MILLENNIAL.

The show is perfectly summarized by the phrase "It's never quite been the same" – words Nik now uses to describe his ‘dicky’ knee, his s*x life, and his ability to stay awake past 9pm (remember when pulling an all-nighter meant clubbing till dawn, not just getting up six times to p*e?).

For the first time in almost 30 years, South Africa’s leading ballet companies - Cape Town City Ballet and Joburg Ballet - will be joining forces to present one of the most iconic and beloved works in the classical ballet repertoire, SWAN LAKE.

Performances in Cape Town will be at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from 25 to 27 July 2025. Tickets from R200pp are available through Webtickets. Due to the strong advance booking, securing seats as soon as possible is highly recommended.
