Moloi: Pirates can beat Sundowns any day and they are ready to challenge Sundowns for the league

Former Orlando Pirates Teboho Moloi feels the Bucs have shown that they can beat Mamelodi Sundowns in cup competitions and urged them to translate that to league matches where he wants them to be consistent.

ā€œLet's not make it like it is something new that Pirates win back-to-back, I mean we've won the treble [before] and we defended it,ā€ Moloi told the media.

ā€œIt is not something new. The cup final over the weekend was a rehearsal of what to expect of Pirates vs Sundowns going for the league.

ā€œFor me, they have proved that they can beat Sundowns in knockout cups. They must now prove that they can be consistent with the vein of form that they have. If they can be able to sustain that or be consistent in the league, I see them giving us an exciting year.ā€

ā€œI got one text from a Chairman saying he has an interest with a Baroka player, I even showed the text to my technical team. I didnā€™t take it seriously and it was nothing. I didnā€™t even respond to the text message from the chairman who texted me about a Baroka player. Iā€™m not in the business of giving players to people. I donā€™t even know what is happening with the player contracts at Baroka, not even a single player unless a player reaches out to meā€

The rumour didnā€™t start on Sunday, on Sunday I found out about another Chairman (the 3rd) who has spoken to our coach about our players. I donā€™t want to jump into conclusions, which is why we are investigating the matter while we place the coach on suspensionā€

ā€œIf someone has an interest in our players and reaches out to the coach, the coach was meant to refer them to us. We are currently investigating whether or not this is true because coach Dan hasnā€™t disclosed any of this to us. I didnā€™t have a conversation with the coach, Iā€™m busy with the enquiryā€

ā€œThe team still has to participate in the playoffs and thatā€™s why weā€™ve brought in Morgan Mammila can coach our team and he is available, other coaches are not available.
