Do lions climb trees? While lions are not natural climbers like leopards, certain populations of African lion are known for resting in trees across parts of Africa.

In regions such as Queen Elizabeth National Park and northern Tanzania, tree-climbing lions use sturdy branches to escape biting insects, avoid ground threats like buffalo, cool down in the shade, and gain a better vantage point over the savanna.

This fascinating behavior is often learned and passed down within prides, showing how adaptable lions can be in changing ecosystems. From sycamore fig trees to umbrella thorn acacias, the choice of tree matters.

We took a 400km early morning flight to rescue this little guy. I wasn’t 100% sure if he was a pale morph Wahlberg’s Eagle, but a quick call to our friend and raptor expert, Craig Nattrass, confirmed the ID. He isn’t exactly a happy camper at the moment (the eagle, not Craig!), but we’ve provided everything he needs to feel better by morning. Hopefully, all goes well and we’ll be making the flight back soon😉

We were asked to do our weekly rescue of tortoises and chameleons being sold by the roadside naartjie vendors on the Sun City Road this morning.
​With the help of Chakita, we managed to rescue one tortoise and one chameleon. Fortunately, both were healthy, and we were able to release them back into the wild.
​Please remember: whatever you do, just don't buy. Buyers create the market.
