If I had to rewrite matric today, I’d definitely still pass English – the essays, comprehension, all of it 😌📚

What about you? Which subject would you still ace?

The internet stays undefeated but honestly, terrible things are happening in Zimbabwe 🇿🇼💔.

We can laugh at the moment, but our thoughts are with the people on the ground.

[IN CASE YOU MISSED IT]

President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Advocate Jan Lekgoa Mothibi as South Africa’s new National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP), effective 1 February 2026.
The appointment is made in terms of Section 179 of the Constitution and the National Prosecuting Authority Act.

Given the significance of the role, the President established an independent advisory panel led by the Minister of Justice, Hon. Mmamoloko Kubayi. After an open and transparent process, the panel shortlisted and interviewed candidates but ultimately advised that none were suitable. Despite this, the President exercised his constitutional powers to appoint Adv. Mothibi.

Adv. Mothibi currently serves as the Head of the Special Investigating Unit (SIU). His career includes experience as a public prosecutor, magistrate, and senior legal executive, with previous roles at SARS overseeing corporate legal services and governance.

President Ramaphosa expressed appreciation to outgoing NDPP Advocate Shamila Batohi for her service and thanked the advisory panel for their work.

Following Adv. Mothibi’s appointment, Mr Leonard Lekgetho has been named Acting Head of the SIU from 1 February 2026. Mr Lekgetho, the SIU’s Chief Operations Officer, brings over 22 years of forensic investigation experience, including service with the former Scorpions unit.

Bafana Bafana disappointed us after a 1–2 loss to Cameroon at AFCON 💔
Yoh, now it feels like they’re already on their way back to SA.

Are the boys catching big heads because we used to win back-to-back, or is the hunger just gone? 🤔

Venezuela and the United States: A Power Struggle Fueled by Oil

Venezuela and the United States have long been in conflict over oil, driven by power, politics, and control of resources. Venezuela holds the world’s largest proven oil reserves, making it strategically important to the US. Tensions escalated in the early 2000s when Hugo Chávez nationalised the oil industry and reduced US influence.

Under Nicolás Maduro, relations worsened further, with the US imposing strict economic and oil sanctions over governance and human rights concerns. The US says the sanctions aim to push political reform, while Venezuela views them as economic warfare that has deepened the country’s crisis.

Despite the conflict, global oil shortages and rising prices have led to limited cooperation and negotiations. Ultimately, the dispute remains a struggle over sovereignty, influence, and access to oil, with no lasting resolution in sight.
