A Heartbreaking Day in eShowe I just watched the video 😭😭💔 (In comments section)— A Call for Justice and Reflection
On Saturday, 10 October, three Boxer Superstore managers — three women, three sisters, three mothers, three daughters — were tragically shot dead inside their workplace in eShowe, KwaZulu-Natal.
According to reports, the incident occurred during a disciplinary hearing after a former bakery employee was informed that his employment had been terminated. What should have been a standard workplace procedure ended in unthinkable violence.
What is even more painful to witness is the reaction from some men online who are celebrating this act, saying the man "did a good job."
We must pause and ask: How can anyone celebrate the murder of women who were simply doing their jobs? How can the death of someone's mother, sister and daughter be applauded because someone refused to comply with workplace rules?
This attitude is exactly why many employers struggle, and why gender-based violence remains a crisis in South Africa. When disrespect for female leadership is normalized, when accountability is seen as an insult, the workplace becomes unsafe for women.

South Africa's GBV crisis is national:
We cannot stay silent. According to SAPS and Stats SA quarterly reports, South Africa continues to face one of the highest rates of gender-based violence in the world. Thousands of women have been murdered since the beginning of the year, and over 40,000 r**e cases were reported in the last year alone. This is not about one province or one culture — it is a national crisis affecting all communities.
The question is not which group commits it, but why as a society we still tolerate the mindset that a woman's life is worth less when she exercises authority.
Let us stand together and say: A woman's leadership must be respected. A woman's life must be protected.
