Heidelberg Athletics Club conquers Comrades 2026 "up" run.
Heidelberg Athletics Club has every reason to celebrate after all 12 of its runners conquered the grueling 2026 Comrades Marathon Up Run.
Living up to the slogan "Ska Fela Moya", meaning "Do Not Give Up", the 12 local heroes endured 86km of brutal hills between Durban and Pietermaritzburg, proving that victory truly begins on the inside.
Every Heidelberg AC athlete dug deep to cross the finish line before the 12-hour gun, bringing home an incredible haul of medals.
The club's performance was spearheaded by elite endurance and backed by disciplined finishes across all medal categories.
🥈The Silver Standard: Twoboy Kheswa led the charge with a phenomenal 07:13:26, capturing a prestigious Silver Medal.
🏅The Billy Rowen Trio: Three athletes shattered the sub-7:45 barrier for Billy Rowen Medals: Albert Siska 07:44:17, Vusi Mdhluli 08:02:13 and Malose Lamola 08:51:30.
🎖Robert Mtshali Pride: Pushing through the pain cave for sub-10:00 Robert Mtshali Medals were Thulane Namo 09:24:02, Lerato Motaung 09:25:18 and Ndumiso Mayongo 09:34:45.
🥉Bronze and Vic Clap Grit: Holding the line for the club were Bronze medalists Albert Kheswa 10:01:26 and Mzwandile Gcaleka 10:48:23, alongside Vic Clap finishers Mfundo Mkwanazi 11:02:43, Tanduxolo Sityebi 11:31:31 and Charles Molopo 11:42:12.
This historic showing cements Heidelberg Athletics Club's reputation as a rising powerhouse in South African ultra-distance running. By consistently developing athletes from community fun runs to the ultimate human race, the club is turning grassroots talent into Comrades legends.👏
