Dear Midvaal residents,

Midvaal Local Municipality has noted incidents of trees on municipal property, road reserves and public open spaces being cut, pruned, poisoned or otherwise damaged without authorisation.

No person may prune, cut down, remove, poison or otherwise damage a tree on municipal land without prior authority from the Parks Section. Pruning or removal must be carried out by the Parks Section or its appointed service provider.

Residents affected by municipal trees, including driveways, electricity lines, roads, stormwater, water or sewer infrastructure, private property, or pedestrian and vehicular movement, should report the matter to the Municipality Call Centre for assessment. The Municipality may bill the property owner where the policy is contravened.

Trees, stumps and branches removed from private properties must be disposed of at an approved Municipal Legal Dumping Site. Dumping on municipal land, sidewalks, road reserves, parks or other unauthorised areas is prohibited and may result in a fine.

🌳 Removal of trees, branches or site clearing of illegal tree cutting — R2 544.00
🌳 Illegal cutting, damaging or removal of shrubs on municipal property — R2 544.00
🌳 Standard tariff for illegally cutting or trimming trees on municipal property — R2 544.00
🌳 Cutting to ground level and site clearing of any tree(s), each — R2 544.00
🚛 Illegal dumping of trees and branches — R2 000 – R500 000

Residents are urged not to take the law into their own hands. Report suspected illegal cutting, poisoning or damage of municipal trees to the Parks Section, providing the location and, where possible, photographic evidence.
