So there I am…

Crouched behind rocks.
Hiding in bushes.
Pretending I’m part of the scenery.
Trying not to breathe too loudly.

All while secretly capturing one of the most important moments of your life. 💍✨

The best part? Watching the look on her face when she realizes what’s happening. The nerves, the tears, the excitement, and the pure joy — all preserved forever.

And yes… sometimes getting the perfect shot means becoming a professional hide-and-seek champion. 😅

There is something so special about newborn sessions. The tiny fingers wrapped around a parent’s hand, the little toes, the sleepy stretches, and the moments that pass far too quickly.

📸 What Photography Means to Me 🤍

To some, photography is just taking pictures.

To me, it’s preserving the moments that would otherwise become memories.

It’s the nervous excitement before a surprise proposal.
The tiny fingers of a newborn that won’t stay tiny for long.
The laughter between family members that can’t be recreated.
The quiet glances, the happy tears, the in-between moments that often mean the most.

Photography has taught me to slow down and truly see people. To notice the details. To find beauty in ordinary moments.

When I look through my camera, I’m not just taking a photo — I’m capturing a piece of someone’s story. A moment that can be revisited years from now and still bring back the same feelings.

And that’s what I love most.

Because long after the flowers have wilted, the children have grown up, and life has moved on, your photographs remain.

📸 One of My All-Time Favourite Photos

There’s just something about black and white photography that has always captured my heart.

A photograph doesn’t need colour to tell a story. Sometimes, when you remove the distractions, all that’s left is emotion, connection, and the moments that truly matter.

This image was taken during a surprise engagement shoot a few months ago, and it remains one of my favourites. The excitement, the joy, the love, and that beautiful new chapter beginning together — all captured in a single frame.

Black and white images have a way of feeling timeless. Years from now, trends will change, colours will fade, but photographs like these will still tell the same beautiful story.

Hi, I’m Jolene — the person behind the lens of Jolene Coetzee Photography. 📸

With so many new faces joining my page lately, I thought it might be a good time to introduce myself and share a few random facts so you can get to know me a little better.

✨ I’m a wife and a mom.
✨ I also own another small business called Design by Jolene, where I help businesses with social media management, brand marketing, content creation, and design.
✨ My favourite colour is blue.
✨ My favourite food is sushi. (I could probably eat it every day.)
✨ I never studied photography professionally. Everything I’ve learned has come through practice, determination, making mistakes, and a genuine love for capturing moments.
✨ Sunsets will stop me in my tracks every single time.
✨ I recently started my wedding photography journey, and I absolutely love being able to capture such meaningful moments in people’s lives.
✨ One day, I would love to visit Hawaii.
✨ Saltwater crocodiles absolutely terrify me.
✨ My biggest wish in life is to somehow find an extra 8 hours in every day.
✨ My red flag? I’ll confidently tell you, “Don’t worry, I can edit that out,” and then spend the next few hours questioning every life choice while editing it. 😂

Photography has introduced me to so many incredible people, beautiful stories, and unforgettable moments. Whether you’ve been following my journey for years or you’ve only recently found my page, thank you for being here.

A love like this deserves to be remembered exactly as it felt. 🤍

From the soft golden light over the mountains to the quiet moments between Adrie & Hansie… this wedding was filled with so much warmth, gentleness and genuine love.

These are just a few little sneak peeks from a truly beautiful day at Fleur de Lys. ✨

The way they look at each other, the laughter, the tenderness, the calm in-between moments… those are always my favourite moments to capture.
