HOW AWESOME are these artworks done by KZN school kids for ARTopia 2025!

The Centre Court is a vibrant gallery, featuring incredible artworks by local schools. More than just an exhibition, ARTopia is a window into learners’ interpretation of eco-conscious living through art.

ARTopia is a school-based art campaign that gives students a platform to showcase their artistic talents through the theme “Sustainable Strokes.” The campaign will focus on promoting eco-consciousness in a fun and inspiring way.

Students will be required to explore sustainability themes such as:

- Climate change
- Recycling
- Wildlife conservation
- Renewable energy
- Ocean and forest preservation

Now on and running until 14 July, bring family and friends, explore the inspiring artworks, vote for your favourites, and help local schools win R10 000 in cash prizes.

Well done to everybody who entered! It makes our hearts sing to see so many future conservationists putting paint to paper for rower love of the wild!

At Counting on Africa we know how to unwind. Taking time out to review our new book before we go to publishing! What better place than Mapesu Reserve on the far Northern border of South Africa. As close to my homeland that I can get without crossing the border. Feeling very spoiled in this beautiful place!

This Friday, we had the incredible opportunity to join The Grove Primary School for their 12-Hour Reading Relay, a celebration of stories, imagination, and the pure joy of reading! ✨

The hall was transformed into a cosy reader’s paradise, complete with twinkling lights, fluffy pillows, and the excited chatter of young book lovers. From author visits to magic shows, the day was packed with literary wonder and we were thrilled to be part of it!

A special thank you to The Grove for hosting us and to all the learners, teachers, and parent volunteers who made this event so unforgettable. Seeing young readers so engaged and inspired is what Counting on Africa is all about! 💛
