There go the gum trees!

It’s honestly bitter sweet because small animals, birds and insects will definitely be harmed during the felling of these giants! And they are big, wise giant trees…

But getting these trees down will allow restoration to begin. Our landlord wants to bring in some goats to clear the bramble, and then plant some indigenous and food trees. 🌿

I had a pre-Diabetes scare two years ago.

I was sick for months before figuring it out! My family has a history of Diabetes and it hit me hard after I stopped breastfeeding and entered a period of stagnation and depression.

I was really scared at first but I’ve learnt how to manage my health now - mainly with lifestyle changes and herbs.

Here’s what I do:

*Keep active (the farm makes sure of this!)
* Hardly ever eat sugar
* ‘Dress’ carbs by eating them with protein and/or fat
* Eat veg first, then carbs to slow down absorption
* Take Tulsi tincture and bitters everyday and sometimes Dandelion tea as well
* Switched from oat milk to cows milk
*Use vinegar in dressings and sauces to make sure it’s included in meals

I learnt a lot of hacks from The Glucose Goddess online.

The most important thing I learned is that muscle is the best glucose modulator, and I honestly could be more focused on building muscle. But I am trying - in between life.

Pictured is my bitters tincture that I’ve just put together with Dandelion Root, Burdock Root, lemon slices, a little bit of cinnamon bark and some spices for flavour.

Humans have excluded almost all bitter foods from our diet, to the detriment of our liver and digestion!

There are numerous herbs that help insulin resistance in various ways.
I choose to use:
*Tulsi
* Dandelion Root
* Burdock Root
* Cinnamon

Bruce has had back problems his whole life, so this ergonomic spade from is exactly what he needs to prevent injuries while working in our market garden 🪏

We love the wooden handle and the fact that it arrived in plastic-free packaging. 💪🏼

Pics from today 🌿

It was honestly a stressful day - Bruce is house sitting and something on our car broke this morning. So he was stuck at the other house while we tried to figure out how to get him the car part from the next town.

It will only be sorted tomorrow. Let’s hope it’s the right part!

I spent lots of time weeding in the garden, putting more grass in the chicken coops, pruning plants, planting seeds and watching flower farm videos in order to keep my mind busy and distracted.

We’re sick and tired of cars, I’d much prefer to have horses with carts 😅
