This week has been pretty tough after Bruce’s injury.

Times like this are really when the small joys shine: pretty eggs, flowers, a view over our neighbours cattle, some seeds that I’ve been really wanting. They help to keep one going and that makes them so worth it 🦋💐

Why do we wrap each hatching egg in toilet paper? 🧻

Because it stops them from moving around in their egg cell during transportation, the entire box is additionally wrapped in something to cushion any blows (because the couriers are rough!)

Toilet paper is a plastic-free solution and I don’t see us changing to anything any more “high-tech” any time soon.

I’m feeling depleted, trying to keep everything going while Bruce heals. I feel like I keep discovering new levels of tired.

But I managed to make a little outdoor space for our older chicks that have been in the brooder and it was such a joy to see them enjoying the sun. ☀️

RIP to Grunhilde (affectionately called Mama Sheep) 🐑

She was already quite old when we bought her, but she was our first sheep and we chose her for her bright golden eyes. 🐑

This last year she struggled with various illnesses and couldn’t keep weight on much due to worn down teeth.

She was such a clever, alert sheep and we’ll miss her!
