The Petrus Steyn police, with the assistance of local farmers, arrested two foreign nationals after they were found in possession of 28 stolen wooden railway locks loaded in a truck. Five other suspects fled the scene and are still being sought.
While conducting crime prevention duties near the Petrus Steyn silos, police noticed suspicious activity and called in farmers for backup. Together they arrested the suspects, seized a truck, an SUV, and steel believed to have been used in the crime.
The suspects, aged 39 and 33, are expected to appear soon before the Petrus Steyn Magistrate’s Court, on charges of damaging essential infrastructure.
