From Cape Town to Amsterdam, Zanele Muholi’s visual archive enters a new chapter.

As Kanye Nawe – Alongside You closes in Cape Town, Muholi opens Hlanganani – Unite at Galerie Ron Mandos on 12 September, bringing together new self-portraits, paintings and a major presentation of Faces and Phases—the landmark series now marking 20 years of documenting Black LGBTQIA+ life across the globe.

With new portraits of Amsterdam’s Black q***r community and works from Somnyama Ngonyama, the exhibition continues Muholi’s powerful practice of visibility, resistance and collective memory.
