Bodies of Six Children from N1 Bus Crash Prepared for Burial After DNA Identification

The families of six children who died in the tragic bus crash on the N1 route to Zimbabwe in Limpopo have finally been able to prepare for their burials following the completion of DNA identification processes.

The crash, which occurred a month ago and claimed numerous lives—mostly Zimbabwean and Malawian nationals—left some victims unidentifiable, forcing authorities to rely on DNA testing. While some of the deceased were buried last month, the six children were only confirmed recently.

The names of the children are as follows:

1. Kaira Keyleen Chikowore – 1 year
2. Nicole Hunana – 4 years
3. Shanteur Chiwetu – 4 years
4. Neil Mutsawashe Chiranduro – 1 year
5. Talida Vaela Nyahora – 3 years
6. Leon Lorenzo Maidza – 10 months

Their families are now preparing to lay them to rest after what has been a long and painful wait.

Police Probe Abandoned Fi****ms Recovered in Pienaar

Police in Pienaar have launched an investigation after several abandoned fi****ms were recovered on 19 November 2025.

According to information received, officers were alerted to a group of individuals allegedly transporting fi****ms from Mataffin near Nelspruit to Pienaar in a white Nissan NP300 bakkie. A police member later spotted the vehicle in the Mkhatsini (Karino) area and tailed it while alerting members of Pienaar SAPS.

Two men were reportedly seated at the back of the bakkie. As the vehicle approached Moyeni Mall, it slowed down, enabling both suspects to jump off with a white bag before fleeing into the surrounding bushes. The bakkie then sped away from the scene.

During the pursuit, officers found two bags of maize meal abandoned by the suspects. On inspection, the bags were discovered to contain three rifles and 25 rounds of ammunition.

Recovered items include:

1. Brown rifle – serial number pending
2. Black Gladiator shotgun with black shoulder belt – serial number pending
3. Brown rifle fitted with a zoomed black scope and brown shoulder belt – serial number pending
4. Black waist ammunition belt
5. Two green shotgun rounds (70/35)
6. Seventeen red shotgun rounds (GB 12/70 28g)
7. Six white shotgun rounds (28g 67mm)

Further investigation revealed that the fi****ms had been stolen during a residential burglary in White River.

Police are urging anyone with information that may assist in tracing or arresting the suspects to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or submit tip-offs via the MySAPS App. Callers may remain anonymous, and all information will be treated with strict confidentiality.

HE LIED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS! BUT, WHO EXACTLY IS BROWN?

During his testimony at the Madlanga Commission, Businessman Brown Mogotsi was questioned about claims that he was an Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) agent — despite the organisation having been disbanded at a time when he would have been only 13 years old.

Mogotsi responded by saying that the age reflected on his ID is not his correct age, implying that he was older at the time MK was active.

He also volunteered information about not having a matric certificate. What is more concerning is that he has access to sensitive and crucial information normally restricted to authorised personnel.

Vigilant members of the Maitland Flying Squad were busy with patrols on the N2 Highway near Macassar, on Wednesday morning, when they saw a suspicious looking vehicle and decided to pull it over. They searched the vehicle and found an imitation firearm, with blank rounds and 209 units abalone with an estimated street value of R100 000.00 inside the silver Mercedes Vito. An adult male was arrested for the possession of an imitation firearm and the illegal possession of abalone.

Once charged the suspect will appear in the Somerset West Magistrates’ court, on the mentioned charges.

A suspected robber died after allegedly shooting himself during a violent cash-in-transit heist outside Fresh N Frozen Butchery on the R510 near Waterfall Mall.

According to police, a Fidelity cash-in-transit van was ambushed shortly after 09:00 by a gang of at least eight heavily armed suspects. The robbers blasted the vehicle open with explosives and opened fire with high-calibre rifles.

During the shootout, one suspect was shot in the leg by security guards. Witnesses say the injured man then turned his own gun on himself, shooting himself in the head and dying instantly on the road.

The remaining suspects grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash and sped off in two getaway vehicles — a white Toyota Hilux and a silver VW Polo — which are still being traced.

North West police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone confirmed that cases of armed robbery, attempted murder and an inquest have been opened. A massive manhunt, involving helicopters and tracker teams, is underway.

No security guards sustained serious injuries.

A young woman from Nkowankowa is recovering after she was viciously attacked by her boyfriend, in what the community has described as one of the most disturbing incidents this month.

According to witnesses, the boyfriend — known as Given Mathosi, widely called Sniper — allegedly ambushed the woman, forcefully opened her eyes and sprayed pepper spray, before dragging her by her clothes and beating her repeatedly.

The traumatised victim was left in a critical state following the assault.

Police have opened a case against Sniper, but he has not yet been arrested. Community members say the suspect is now threatening the woman’s family, allegedly warning that he will burn their home and “finish what he started”.

Residents claim Sniper is feared in the neighbourhood, often using intimidation to get his way.

The family is pleading for urgent police intervention before the situation turns deadly.

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) is deeply shocked and saddened by a tragic incident that occurred on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, at Inxiweni Primary School in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni, where the School Principal and an administrative staff member were fatally shot inside the school’s administration block.

According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred at around 5pm in the afternoon on school premises while the Principal (a 58-year-old woman), the administrator (a 55-year-old woman), and other colleagues were reportedly preparing for a meeting scheduled to take place later this week.

It is alleged that the colleagues who were in a nearby office in the admin block suddenly overheard gunshots. Fearing for their safety, the colleagues allegedly hid until the situation appeared safe. When they emerged, they reportedly found the Principal and the administrator lying in the passage of the admin block.

The colleagues immediately contacted emergency services, who responded swiftly. Sadly, both the Principal and the administrative staff member were declared dead at the scene.

Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Premier Panyaza Lesufi and Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane visited the school later this evening to assess the scene and ascertain facts surrounding the incident. They also interacted with both families to convey their condolences and to express their support during this difficult time.

Psychosocial support teams, including officials from the Ekurhuleni North District, will be dispatched to the school tomorrow to provide counselling and trauma support to learners. Employee wellness will also visit the school for necessary support.

“We are horrified by this senseless and brutal act committed within a school, a place meant to be a sanctuary for teaching and learning. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go to the families of the Principal and the staff member whose lives were tragically cut short. We urge law enforcement authorities to move with speed to bring the perpetrator to justice,” said Chiloane.

Two private vehicles were damaged when the suspects’ vehicle collided with the vehicles.

The circumstances surrounding the death of the one suspect are under investigation by IPID, while the remaining suspects aged between 27 and 45, are detained awaiting their first court appearance in Mitchells Plain on charges of possession of unlicensed fi****ms and ammunition, attempted murder, and attack on police.

THUGS TARGET SILENCE PLACE AGAIN!

By Mashamba Media
Mbyana ya Mahungu

An attempted break-in at Silence Place (Tavern) in Extension 8, Alexandra, was thwarted after the owner was alerted by the alarm system in the early hours. The suspects fled before they could take anything.

This is not the first time the establishment has been targeted. A few weeks ago, criminals reportedly broke in and stole several items, leaving the owner counting losses.

The latest incident adds to a worrying trend of taverns being attacked by thugs in and around Alexandra. Local business owners and residents are increasingly concerned about the rising crime, calling for stronger security measures and more visible policing in the area.
