The tournament that ushers in the new year!

The Jos International Polo Tournament began towards the end of the previous year and ended on the third day of the new year. 32 teams jostled for glory in Jos, near centre of Nigeria.

Four cups;
Governor’s Cup (12 Goals +),
Imani Cup (7 - 10 Goals),
Nasco Cup (3 - 6 Goals) and
President’s Cup (0 - 2 Goals) were competed for over 8 days of action-packed polo.

The annual Lagos Polo Club edition of the Captain’s Cup is a celebration of leadership, heritage and homegrown excellence. The tournament is held in December is when Lagos Polo Club player members are drawn into teams battle it out over two weekends. Polo players are drawn into one of these teams; Adebayo, Alakija, Akinboboye, Amusan, Debs, Fasinro, Ibrahim, Makanjuola, Ojora, Ogunbanjo, Olashoju and Oni. All were in on the action!

🏆 NATIONAL CARNIVAL POLO TOURNAMENT

The National Carnival Polo Tournament showcased over 45 teams from across Nigeria with a tournament fixture of 65 matches over two weeks. The teams participating was the biggest roster that Abuja Guards Polo Club hosted for the tournament.

The National Carnival Polo Tournament stands as one of Nigeria's premier polo tournaments. The tournament kicked off with much excitement.

Pop Cola won the Legislative Shield in the opening week and went further to claim the Minister's Cup victory against Musaco. Profile/Bago's performance was impressive to secure them their Low Cup victory, and the emotional Dawule Baba Memorial Trophy.

Mangal Cement triumphed over Rubicon to lift the President's Cup after six fiercely contested chukkas.

Omo-Oba Adedapo Adelanke Ojora.

Beloved by all, Dapo will never be forgotten. Born on 20 January 1962 in Ibadan, Nigeria. Passed away on 11 December 2020 in Lagos, Nigeria. Dogs, horses and the game of polo were his interest out of school. A brilliant horseman and was very knowledgable of the game of polo.

We pause today, 11 December to remember a polo legend.
