Tanzania just proved something tragic that tyranny and dictatorship doesn’t always wear trousers only. It can also wear a headscarf and smile politely for the cameras.
President Samia Suluhu will be running against herself in the upcoming “General Elections” after jailing her opponents, silencing critics, and baptizing fear in the name of “stability.”
They are mistakenly calling it a democracy. I am calling it a funeral for common sense. Makes sense why some of us doesn't see reason why women should be anywhere near positions of power. They get too comfortable.
Power doesn’t change gender. It only exposes character.
And when a person starts believing they’re untouchable, God begins to prepare their humiliation quietly. In our experience, dictators doesn't go out with dignity and it's only a matter of time for the Tanzanians to rise above her and push her out. It may take time but time is a bully. People don't learn from known history.
There is a proverb that says, “No matter how tall and skilled a woman is, she can never urinate through the window or on the wall.” Suluhu doesn't seem to understand that and she is busy paying God with people's hopes.
Every ruler who forgets that heaven still votes will one day discover that God doesn’t count ballots. He cancels kingdoms.
