The Bhaca community should focus on strengthening its historical and cultural foundations before pursuing recognition as a separate linguistic entity. In my view, a tree without deep roots cannot stand firmly against the wind. A people seeking greater autonomy must have a well-documented history, strong traditional leadership, and institutions capable of preserving and advancing their identity.
For those in Umzimkhulu, closer cultural alignment with the Zulu community may be more practical, while those in Mount Frere may find greater historical and linguistic affinity with the Xhosa community. Unity built on shared heritage is often stronger than division built on uncertainty.
Note that this is a viewpoint rather than an established fact. Others may disagree and point to Bhaca history, leadership, and cultural identity as reasons for separate recognition.

Eastern Cape influencers could learn a page or two from their counterparts across the country. I've watched this play out for a long time, and one thing stands out like a sore thumb,too many seem to be crabs in a bucket, forever pulling one another down instead of climbing together. Rather than locking horns with their rivals face to face, they fight by proxy, using others as foot soldiers to wage battles that aren't theirs.
Many also seem intent on putting every meal, every purchase, and every moment of their lives on a pedestal. There is a world of difference between lighting the way for others and simply blowing your own trumpet. Inspiration plants seeds, bragging merely makes noise. Influence isn't measured by how loudly you beat your own drum, but by how many people rise because of your example. It's time to stop chasing applause and start leaving footprints worth following.
