Benoni Community Appeals for Information Following Fatal Shooting of Clayton Mhora
BENONI, GAUTENG — The Benoni community is appealing for witnesses and information following the fatal shooting of Clayton Mhora, who was killed outside Dingos Pub on Lakefield Road, Laledene, on the night of Friday, 17 July 2026.
According to information circulated by community organisations and local media, the shooting occurred at approximately 23:29 outside the pub. Reports allege that an altercation took place before Mhora was shot. The suspect allegedly fled the scene in a red Volkswagen Polo bearing registration HF 59 DW GP.
Community members have identified a person known as "Khoza" in connection with the incident and have appealed to residents of Reiger Park, Boksburg, to assist police if they have any information that could help the investigation. However, these allegations have not been independently confirmed by the South African Police Service (SAPS), and no court has determined criminal responsibility.
The killing has sparked widespread concern across Benoni, with residents and community leaders calling for justice and urging anyone with information to cooperate with investigators. Local social media platforms have been widely sharing appeals in an effort to generate leads that could assist police.
