It's been a year since the National State of Emergency and Lockdown was announced and we have ALL been through so much! We are still supporting families and still loving our little Stars, wherever we are and however we are presenting our classes. Thank YOU all for the support. ❤❤

Today is International Women's Day, a day meant to celebrate women and their contribution to society; and we want to share with you the story of three women who have empowered hundreds of other women (and a few men) to change the world one child at a time!

Meet Jill Manly and her daughters Amanda Hollowell and Megan Bowling of Stretch-n-Grow International! Twenty-eight years ago, at the age of 40, Jill found herself pregnant for the second time. She began studying children’s fitness and together with her late husband Bob developed the very first comprehensive children’s fitness program to be offered for children 2 to 5 years old in childcare centers. Today Stretch-n-Grow is a world-wide franchise offering fitness, dance, gymnastics, music, sports, and yoga to children from 18 months to 12 years old! Stretch-n-Grow has made it possible for hundreds of women to own their own businesses and in turn employ thousands more as coaches, creating a huge network that has taught millions of children around the world the benefit of a healthy lifestyle. So in celebration of International Women’s Day, it seems fitting to celebrate what these three women have accomplished along with their world-wide network of Stretch-n-Grow owners!

Who else could use a mid-week yoga break?! 🙋 This week in Fitness Stars, our yoga pose is the butterfly. Grab your littles and have them give it a try at home! Be sure and snap a picture and leave it in the comments below so we can see how awesome all of our SNG friends are!

To get the perfect butterfly pose, sit on your gluteus maximus with a tall spine, bend your legs, place the soles of your feet together, and gently flap your legs like the wings of a butterfly. 🦋

🧘🏽‍♀️ 🧘🏼‍♂️ Yoga and the positive impact on children’s well-being:
1. Yoga helps children manage their anxiety. The breathing exercises and relaxation techniques learned from practicing yoga can help children with stress management. Teaching children how to reduce stress in a healthy way is an important life skill that will help them as children and as adults.

2. Yoga improves children’s emotional regulation. Another benefit of yoga for children is that it helps children learn to be in the present moment while relaxing and gaining a peaceful state of mind, which ultimately improves their emotional regulation.

3. Yoga boosts children’s self-esteem. Yoga for kids can do wonders for their self-esteem. Perfecting a pose or improving their balance and flexibility can give young children a sense of personal empowerment.

4. Yoga increases children’s body awareness and mindfulness. Going through a variety of yoga poses helps children learn about their bodies and the movements they’re capable of doing.

5. Yoga enhances children’s concentration and memory. One of the top benefits of kids’ yoga is that the different types of moves requires children to focus and work on their memorization skills—both of which can translate over into their academic performance.

6. Yoga develops children’s strength and flexibility. Yoga helps strengthen children’s growing bodies and helps them improve their flexibility, which can reduce their chance of injury.

7. Yoga teaches discipline and reduces impulsivity. Yoga can reduce challenging behaviors in the classroom by providing a physical outlet for children to express themselves. It also teaches children about discipline as they work on clearing their minds and perfecting their poses.
