Update on the G20 South Africa Summit 2025.
As of November 20, 2025, South Africa is in the final stretch of preparations for its historic G20 presidency—the first time an African nation has hosted the leaders' summit. The G20 Leaders' Summit is scheduled for November 22-23 at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg, Gauteng. Right now, the G20 Social Summit (focused on civil society input) is wrapping up today (November 18-20) at the Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre in Ekurhuleni, with President Cyril Ramaphosa delivering the closing address later today. This sets the stage for the main event, emphasizing inclusivity and amplifying voices from underrepresented groups like youth, women, and marginalized communities.
The overall theme is "Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability", reflecting South Africa's push to address the "global polycrisis"
