Yesterday was one of those days I got to shoot everything I like! Some aviation, some wildlife, some music...everything in one go! Christiaan Baartman ended our day with a few magical tunes...after he got his hands dirty doing some great conservation work!

Not your average day in the bushveld.

We teamed up with a dedicated crew, boarded a chopper, and set out on a unique mission—to treat wild animals suffering from severe tick infestations using specially formulated paintball rounds.

Joining us? A young city girl more at home in traffic than in the thorns… until now.

Never thought that I would be able to shoot all 15 Springboks in 1 day! I must say, this was a day to remember. I will share more of what we did yesterday soon.

Bugs, Broadcasts - Between rugby scrums, mad dashes with a camera, and whatever else I was allegedly meant to be doing, I found myself stranded in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by more wildlife than a David Attenborough Christmas special. And right there, in the thick of it, stood Thabiso Khambule, locked in a battle for survival. Not against lions. Not against snakes. No—against a uninvited-bug. A single, audacious insect that had chosen his shirt as its new timeshare.

Most people would’ve flailed about like a toddler in a wasp nest. But not Thambiso. No, he channelled his inner radio DJ superhero, calm voice, smooth moves, and enough charisma to negotiate peace between two angry warthogs. With a flick of the wrist and the steely poise of a man who’s handled more live broadcasts than hot dinners, he stared down the insect invader and made it rethink it's landing spot.

Me? I was right there, lens ready, to capture the almost life-altering moment… for the bug. And thanks to his own heroic efforts, Thabiso completed his interview, without a single buzzing interruption. That is pure class!

Was a great day out, Will be sharing more about what we got up to today shortly...

You can keep your charts, your specs, your lab tests, your "RULES"...I don't do "rules" in photography, I break them! This image? This one shot? That’s what it's all about!

Pin sharp. Right on the eye. The kind of focus that makes you feel like the subject's about to blink at you. You don’t need the holy-grail-400 when you’ve got this kind of surgical precision at your fingertips and the ability to zoom out and tell the rest of the story.

I traded the legendary 400mm f/2.8—yes, the rugby photographer’s crown jewel for this, and I’m not looking back. The old one was a sniper rifle. It did what it was made for perfectly but...It had it's limitations.

This? This is a shape-shifting laser beam that would make Leonard from Big Bang giddy.

One lens. Infinite possibilities. Motorsport. Wildlife. Aviation. Rugby. Portraits. Concerts. Whatever throws dust, lifts off the ground, makes a noise, moves fast...I’m pointing this thing at it.

And this weekend? We push it further. But for now, just look at that eye… I can see him looking at me looking at him...

Welcome Canon RF 100-300 2.8... I looking forward to our journey together! iShootStories... PhotoStories! Powered by King Price Insurance!

There comes a moment in rugby... and in life when no defender can stop you. Not because they’re weak, but because you’ve become unstoppable. All the training, the setbacks, the pain, the early mornings, it’s built you into something greater. When purpose drives you and passion fuels you, obstacles become spectators. That’s when you realise... it’s not about avoiding the tackle, it’s about running through it. Keep pushing, keep driving forward. Because when you know where you’re going, and nothing will stop you, the defenders of doubt, fear, and failure don’t stand a chance.

🕊️ Another legend has fallen. RIP Darren Scott.

📢 A voice that became part of our mornings, a mind that shaped the airwaves, and a presence that challenged, entertained, and inspired. Darren was more than just a broadcaster, he was a storyteller, a provocateur, a heartbeat of South African radio.

We grew up hearing him, laughing with him, sometimes arguing with him, but always listening.

It’s strange how someone you've never physically met can feel so familiar. That’s the power of a true broadcaster. Darren had it in spades.

Rest easy, Darren. Your mic may be off, but your echo will carry on.

You hear it before you see it. A shriek of a V-Non-Electric-Engine, a flash of colour and then it's gone. The Jordan Formula 1 car is fast, it’s loud, unapologetic, and gloriously 90s!

I photograph the things that tell stories. Big ones. Loud ones. Ones that smell like power and adrenaline. Because a good photo doesn’t just sit there, it growls at you.

This? This is what storytelling at a Gazillion km/h looks like.

MalBoer, the #13 SafariProjek, and I spent some unforgettable time together, from the apexes of Kyalami to the runway of Jack Taylor Airfield. Every kilometer, every moment, was pure freedom. And somewhere along the way, we even made a bold new red friend: MEL.
