VIOLENCE ERUPTS IN ATOK AS ILLEGAL MINING DISPUTE TURNS DEADLY
Tensions have reportedly exploded in Atok, outside Burgersfort, following a violent dispute linked to illegal mining activities in the area.
According to reports, undocumented Zimbabwean nationals allegedly involved in illegal chrome mining clashed with local community members.
The conflict is said to have escalated after a dispute between the miners and individuals who had allegedly employed them to work at illegal mining sites.
Reports further allege that one Zimbabwean national was shot and killed during the confrontation.
In retaliation, other Zimbabwean nationals allegedly set several houses on fire, leaving parts of the community in shock and fear.
