"COOL RETURNS" AS MUSONDA, HACHILENSA BACK TO FIRE UP YOUNG CHIPOLOPOLO.

Lusaka August 27, 2025.

The legends are back! FAZ has unveiled a star-studded new technical bench for the Zambia Under-17 side, with Chipolopolo greats Charles Musonda and Clive Hachilensa stepping into key roles ahead of the COSAFA U17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Harare next month.

Musonda—the midfield wizard who dazzled Europe and lifted Zambian football to the world stage—returns as Technical Advisor, bringing unmatched experience and a UEFA pedigree to guide the next generation.

Joining him is no-nonsense defender Clive Hachilensa, now physical trainer, ready to drill the youngsters with the same grit that made him a Chipolopolo rock at the back.

While Ian Bakala remains head coach, Zesco United’s Emmanuel Siwale will take charge on the touchline during the Harare assignment. They’ll be flanked by Lameck Banda (first assistant), Francis Kombe (second assistant), and Martin Mwamba (goalkeeper coach).

The backroom engine is equally solid, with Emmanuel Kanswe (doctor), Isaac Sichali (physio), Gabriel Kalembo (team manager), and Moses Banda (equipment manager).

FAZ General Secretary Machacha Shepande says the changes are all about blending youth with heritage:

> “By bringing back legends like Musonda and Hachilensa, we are reigniting the Chipolopolo spirit. These are men who know what it means to wear the badge.”

Zambia is in Group B with South Africa, Malawi, and Madagascar at the COSAFA showdown, set for September 11–20 in Harare.

The message is clear: the young Chipolopolo won’t just be playing for qualification—they’ll be chasing glory with legends on their bench.

FAZ APPOINTS MACHACHA SHEPANDE AS NEW GENERAL SECRETARY

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has appointed Machacha Shepande as its new General Secretary, taking over from Reuben Kamanga.

According to details obtained by Millennium Sports , the appointment was made during an Executive Committee meeting held yesterday.

Shepande is not new to football administration, having previously served as FAZ General Secretary as well as at the National Sports Council of Zambia.

He also worked with the African Union Sports Council, giving him both local and international experience in sports management.

The Association is yet to make an official statement.

His appointment comes at a time when FAZ is seeking to strengthen its administrative structure and improve the running of the game in the country.
