As AI begins to build itself, one of the principles adopted by developers is automating alignment research -- particularly safety research. This is challenging, and researchers at Anthropic and elsewhere have developed benchmarks and automated auditing tools. One is known as 'Petri' that quantify common alignment failures. There are ten main alignment failures:
1. Deception
2. Sycophancy
3. Hallucination
4. Concealing uncertainty
5. Jailbreaks (crafting specific inputs or tactics to bypass AI's built-in safety guardrails, content filters, and ethical constraints)
6. Prompt injection
7. Social bias
8. Privacy violation
9. Power seeking
10. Reward hacking (system finds a clever shortcut to maximize its mathematical reward without actually accomplishing the true goal set by the developers.)

Ironically, Anthropic is analyzing itself and its automated learning principles but it has revealing an interesting fact. That AI is able to improve these ten weaknesses if managed by a human. Or humans.
