Aliko Dangote adds $414 million in a single day.

Africa’s richest man saw his fortune surge by $414 million on Thursday, July 17, as investors piled into cement and sugar stocks on the Nigerian Exchange.

A 9.99% rally in Dangote Cement, his flagship company, drove most of the gains, pushing his net worth from $27.8 billion to $28.2 billion by day’s end, according to Bloomberg data.

That one-day rally erased year-to-date losses and bumped him up the global rich list, moving from 74th to 73rd.

His cement stake alone added $410 million. Sugar and food shares also ticked higher, while his refinery and fertilizer holdings remained unchanged.
