🚨 WOMEN’S SAFETY IS NOT NEGOTIABLE 🚨

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Multi-Party Women’s Caucus (MPWC), led by Chairperson Hon. Dr Nomathemba Mokgethi, is calling for urgent action following the discovery of several women’s bodies in and around Ekurhuleni.

While investigations are still ongoing, these tragic incidents once again highlight the urgent need to strengthen the fight against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF). 🕯️

💜 Women deserve to walk, work, run, use public spaces and move freely in their communities without fear.

The MPWC is calling for:
👮🏽‍♀️ Increased police visibility
🚨 Faster responses to missing-person cases
🤝 Stronger community policing
🏘️ Greater cooperation between law enforcement, municipalities, civil society and communities

Most importantly, the responsibility for violence lies with the perpetrators — never the victims.

🗣️ Women have the right to live, move and exist safely.

Despite the decreases, violent crime remains a serious concern.

✅ Foster Child Grant increased to R1,290 in April and R1,300 from October 2026.
✅ Child Support Grant and Grant-in-Aid increased to R580.
✅ War Veterans Grant increased to R2,420.
