A spokesperson for Drake has released a statement to XXL regarding today's court decision to dismiss the rapper's defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group over Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us."

"We intend to appeal today’s ruling, and we look forward to the Court of Appeals reviewing it,” the statement reads.

Earlier today (Oct. 9), Judge Jeannette A. Vargas issued the ruling, siding with UMG before the trial stage.

"Drake has brought this action against UMG for defamation, harassment in the second degree, and violation of section 349 of the New York General Business Law," the ruling details. "Before the Court is Defendant’s motion to dismiss pursuant to Rule 12(b)(6) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. Because the Court concludes that the allegedly defamatory statements in 'Not Like Us' are non-actionable opinion, the motion to dismiss is GRANTED."

A UMG spokesperson released the following statement to XXL about the dismissal.

“From the outset, this suit was an affront to all artists and their creative expression and never should have seen the light of day," the statement reads. "We’re pleased with the court’s dismissal and look forward to continuing our work successfully promoting Drake’s music and investing in his career.”

Drake initially filed the lawsuit on Jan. 15, alleging defamation and harassment over Kendrick's "Not Like Us" and UMG's promotion of it.

Young Thug insists Atlanta hip-hop is back after he was at the center of a tumultuous upheaval in the city last month.

On Tuesday (Oct. 14), Thugger shared a post on his Instagram Story sharing his thoughts on the current status of things in the A.

"I wake up and just feel so good that Atlanta is back, bruh," Thug says. "This sh*t we doing, this sh*t is for the town, only. I'm so happy we back where we supposed to be in this rap community. I don't think we ever left, but, I think rap is down right now. Us as artists, we got to get it back together. But, Atlanta look so good right now. I'm so f**king elated to be from that place."

Last week, Thug announced his Hometown Hero benefit concert, which will take place at State Farm Arena in Atlanta on Dec. 16. The concert will also feature special guests billed as "and Friends" on the flyer.

The concert, which will be Thug's second big benefit show in his hometown since being released from jail last October, comes after he was recently at the center of drama among Atlanta rappers. In August, Thug was the subject of a snitching scandal that divided many people in the Atlanta hip-hop community.

Things got hairy for Thug again last month when jail calls leaked that found him gossiping about many of his local rap peers. He has since apologized.

NLE The Great, formerly NLE Choppa, recently opened up about taking a hiatus from music to get his spirit right.

On Oct. 10, the Memphis rapper was a guest on gospel singer Kirk Franklin's Den of Kings YouTube channel along with Dr. Jay Barnett, comedian KevOnStage, Ray J, and actor Jonathan Majors, for a roundtable conversation. During the chat, NLE talked about taking a four-month break from music.

"I just sat down for three or four months. I took a break," NLE revealed. "I could have made 4, 5, 6, $10 million. I left it all on the plate to sit down because something in my spirit wasn't right."

NLE says that during that time, he returned to his roots in Memphis and got grounded. He went on a 112-day "seek" where he journaled in nature and got closer to God.

"He gave me dreams," NLE continued. "People that I needed to get away from, snakes, rats, whoever. He put everything under a microscope in my life."

While NLE has been on a deep spiritual journey, he still has questions about institutional religion. During the chat, he also voiced opposition to Christians praising Jesus instead of God, to which Jonathan Major responded by telling NLE to reread the Bible.

Despite his raunchy content, NLE The Great has been on a spiritual journey throughout his career. He appeared to take another step over the summer, when he announced he would be going by the name NLE The Great and released the song "Messiah."
