Ochre Moving Pictures (a subsidiary of Times Media), as a production company with a track record of excellence in drama and soap opera, is investing in skills development in the field of narrative screen writing through offering eight week courses.
The courses, which will be offered free of charge to the successful applicants, is facilitated through guidance and nurturing by leading industry professionals. It will provide a platform for skilled writers who successfully complete the programme to take their projects to the screen via a process of acquiring and developing genre specific writing skills.
The first course, focusing entirely on writing for soap opera, will run from 25 July to 12 September and consists of full day workshops every Saturday with schedules of work to be completed between each workshop. Applicants must be able to commit to every Saturday for the eight week period and have the time and capacity to deliver the workload to deadlines.
Applicants are not required to have any formal qualifications, but must provide:
1) Proven records of their writing skills and experience through the submission of any piece of writing (not necessarily for screen) which has appeared in the public domain (published, produced or appeared online),
2) An original piece of writing in their mother tongue of no more than half a page long.
Applicants are also required to be able to verbally pitch an idea in English.
3) Both pieces of writing, along with a short CV must be emailed to [email protected] and [email protected] by 07h00 on Friday 17 July 2015.
