MAN IN COURT FOR KILLING HIS WIFE
The Limpopo MEC for Social Development Nkakareng Rakgoale has called for the courts not to grant bail to perpetrators of Gender Based Violence as they continue to violate the rights of women and children.
MEC Rakgoale was speaking outside the Malamulele Magistrate's Court, where a 63-year old man was making his formal bail application. Daniel Maswanganyi has been charged with murder after allegedly killing his wife, Tsakani Maswanganyi, last week at Mbhalati village.
Police say the victim was shot several times after an argument ensued between the pair at their home. The MEC was in court to give support to the family of the victim and also to add her voice in calling for the court not to grant bail to the suspect, as the country is grappling with Gender Based Violence dubbed the second pandemic to the Coronavirus.
