R15.00 DISPUTE ENDS IN FLAMES

A fire broke out at a shack in Dali Mpofu Informal Settlement, Tembisa, following an altercation between two men .

It is alleged that the dispute originated over R15.00 in change.

One of the individuals was sent to purchase items and failed to return the change, prompting a threat from another individual to set the shack on fire. The situation escalated, resulting in the shack being set alight.

The fire spread to a neighboring shack, causing damage to both structures. Authorities responded promptly to the scene and are currently investigating the incident.

LAUGH YOUR WORRIES AWAY WITH PETLA AND FRIENDS

Get ready for a night of laughter as Petla Dladla, a rising star in South African comedy, is gearing up for a highly-anticipated Comedy Festival on July 26th at Moses Molelekwa arts center , Tembisa.

The festival promises to bring together an incredible lineup of comedians, all set to tickle your funny bone and leave you in stitches.

The 41 year old Thembisa born comedian Petla whose real name is Lucky Dladla comedian, grew up being the "clown" at family gatherings. However, it wasn't until after high school that people suggested he try stand-up comedy. A mutual friend introduced him to Skhumba, who encouraged him to pursue comedy.

Petla's first gig was at Mt Lounge, where he performed a 5-minute set. Although he was scared, his friends came to support him, and he received positive feedback. He continued to perform with other up-and-coming comedians and eventually shared the stage with the well known Skhumba in Soweto.

Petla's comedy style is deeply rooted in his life experiences and surroundings. He jokes about his neighborhood, celebrities, and politicians - anything that comes to mind and feels funny. He draws inspiration from people like Bheki Xaba, who was known for his humor in Petla's neighborhood.

"As a comedian, I've learned to be sensitive to certain topics. If someone has passed away, you can't make jokes about them immediately. You have to let the family heal and grieve, then after a few weeks, you can tackle the topic. Remember, as black people, we believe in respecting our ancestors, so respect is key." He explains

For Petla, laughter is essential, especially in South Africa, where crime and unemployment are prevalent. "Laughter can really turn a bad day into a good one," he says.

Despite facing challenges in getting exposure, Petla remains determined to make a name for himself in the comedy world. His most memorable night was hosting for Seya Siya at News Cafe in Midrand. He has also performed with renowned comedians like Trevor Gumbi and Mashabela Kgalane.

As part of the buildup to the festival, Petla will be taking the stage at Headquarters in Straightline on the 16th of May alongside the talented Gabisile, who he's proud to be mentoring. This sneak peek into the festival's lineup is sure to get you excited for the main event!

This deeply personal book chronicles his remarkable journey from incarceration to becoming a successful entrepreneur.

After serving time in prison, Delisa turned his life around, leveraging his experiences to build a thriving business and inspire others. "Bouncing Back from Danyane" explores themes of resilience, transformation, and redemption, offering a unique South African perspective on overcoming adversity.

"I want to warn the next generation not to repeat the same mistakes I made," Delisa shared, reflecting on his inspiration for writing the book. "This is my way of correcting my mistakes and sharing my journey to inspire others."
