A distraught Kuruman family in the Northern Cape is appealing for public assistance in locating their 65-year-old relative who went missing last month at Maruping village. Boemo Ditshetelo, who has a history of dementia, was last seen by his loved ones when he visited his relatives at a nearby village. Ditshetelo's younger brother, Thuto Thebe, says the family is worried that he might have been kidnapped for muthi purposes.

"Up to so far it has been thirty-five days since we last saw our brother. As a family, we are afraid that he might have been, as we know that people are doing rituals with people. So that is our fear. So we are appealing to the community to assist us to locate him," said Thebe.

The DA in the Northern Cape is calling for an urgent council meeting to deal with the appointment of the Sol Plaatje acting municipal manager, Busisiwe Mgaguli, who defrauded the Mpumalanga Department of Finance between 2011 and 2012. Mgaguli has been seconded to the municipality following the precautionary suspension of municipal manager, Thapelo Matlala amid allegations of corruption. The acting municipal manager paid back 780 thousand-Rand this year to the Mpumalanga department following the sanction by the Asset Forfeiture Unit.

"The DA submitted our request for the urgent special council meeting to be convened. We also requested that the legal services unit and corporate services directorate be instructed to table all relevant documentation and correspondence relating to the secondment of Mgaguli for council's consideration. This should include any significant and pertinent matters relating to her work history that may impact the consideration of her appointment to a position of responsibility at Sol Plaatje municipality," says Pieterse.
