Dulcie September (1935–1988) was a fearless South African anti-apartheid activist and ANC leader who fought against racial segregation and injustice. Arrested in the 1970s for her activism, she later went into exile and became the ANC’s Chief Representative in France, Switzerland, and Luxembourg, exposing apartheid’s illegal arms trade and lobbying for sanctions. On 29 March 1988, she was assassinated in Paris—shot five times outside ANC offices. Her murder remains unsolved, with suspicions linking it to her investigations into South Africa’s arms dealings and nuclear program. Her voice still echoes in the fight for justice.

“Today we honour the fearless women who changed the course of South African history. 🌸

💪 Winnie Madikizela-Mandela – Known as the Mother of the Nation, she was a powerful anti-apartheid activist, community leader, and voice for the oppressed during Nelson Mandela’s imprisonment.

💪 Albertina Sisulu – A nurse, human rights activist, and co-founder of the Federation of South African Women, she fought tirelessly for freedom, education, and equality.

💪 Lilian Ngoyi – The first woman elected to the ANC National Executive Committee, she led the historic 1956 Women’s March against pass laws.

💪 Helen Suzman – A brave politician who stood almost alone in Parliament for years, relentlessly speaking out against apartheid.

💪 Miriam Makeba – The beloved Mama Africa, she used her music and global platform to campaign against apartheid and spread messages of African pride.

These women’s courage, sacrifice, and vision continue to inspire us to build a South Africa where freedom, dignity, and equality are a reality for all.

Happy Women’s Month! 🌼✊
