Although waterholes are supposed to be the place of refreshment and tranquility it is just the opposite. Its waterholes that make it easy for a range of predators to ambush prey and save lots of energy following them for miles. No wonder its also the wildlife photographers choice location. Or supposed to be.
Gnu full speed stampeding through a waterhole and queleas demise...reaction of the sudden appearance of a leopard. The result of a glued finger to the shutter button.

It took me two years but they are happy I got paid... and I am converted....I said before I got paid..

I had to wait three days to cross this river with my vehicle after a flash flood and the river looking like chocolate flowing down didn't help much in my urge to get a good meal as I didn't plan to stay and ran totally out of food. Guess what I bought first when the river gave me the slightest chance of crossing.

The year before a farmer drowned when he attempted to cross this river on the farm next door when it looked just like this.
Yes you can never be the same person that you was when you crossed a river I realized. Doesn't matter how small it is..

Never underestimate a river.. its life changing..always
